Employment opportunities: Graduates of the faculty – possessors of the title “physician” after a postgraduate specialization in residency or master’s programs in one of the 32 specialties (surgery, pediatric surgery, traumatology, neurology, obstetrics and gynaecology, internal diseases, dermatology, otolaryngology, etc.) lasting for 2-4 years, in accord with the status of the international convention of the WHO approved by the UNO in 1989, the Law of Education from the Republic of Moldova (2000) – give medical assistance to the population of all age groups and can operate in all the sorts of medical establishments: diagnosis, treatment and prevention institutes as well as research establishments, medical biochemistry, microbiology, virology, preventive medicine and educational institutes.

Possibilities to continue studies. Owners of diplomas after the residency or master’s programs can pursue further studies within doctorate or postdoctorate programs.

The Faculty was accredited by the National Council of Academic Evaluation and Evaluation of Educational Institutes of the Republic of Moldova in 2001, the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova, No. 574 dated as of July, 5th, 2001.

Professional training of the academic staff of the faculty is organized, monitored, evaluated in conformity with the requirements of the Concept, State Educational Standard for continuous training of medical specialists, Curricula and syllabi reflecting rich experience in continuous education of medical specialists accumulated at the SMPhU “Nicolae Testemitanu” as well as tendencies of implementing new technologies applied in Europe, USA, Canada, etc. The academic process at the faculty is accomplished in such a way that its graduate can have professional competences at the level of present requirements of the WHO, European Community postulated at the conference of Berlin (2003).

The accomplishment of state objectives of the Republic of Moldova concerning professional training of medical specialists is based on:

  1. The Education Law of the Republic of Moldova;
  2. The registration act of the SMPhU “Nicolae Testemitanu” (Order of the Ministry of Health for the foundation of the Faculty of General Medicine);
  3. The decision of the Government concerning the approval of the Nomenclature of specialties ( 1070 – XIY dated as of 21.06.2000);
  4. State Concept of Ministry of Health to assure medical assistance and health care of the population of the Republic of Moldova (it serves as a base to set up the Educational Curriculum and syllabi);
  5. Chart of the University, confirmed by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education of the Republic of Moldova;
  6. Concept of preparation of medical specialists at the SMPhU “Nicolae Testemitanu”;
  7. Licence of activity of the SMPhU “Nicolae Testemitanu” issued as a result of the state accreditation in 2001.
  8. The curricula accepted by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education for the specialty 1701 – General Medicine;
  9. Recommendations of the WHO in training medical and pharmaceutical specialists;
  10. Educational Policy of the Community of the European universities declared at the conference in Bologna, Lausanne, Prague, Berlin (1998-2003).
